Television - The American Past Time

When it comes to leisure time, Americans spend a good amount of it and relaxing on the couch and watching television. Whether it be watching sports, the news, cooking channels, or soap operas, Americans love their televisions.

On an average day in America, the average worker spends 7.9 hours a day on the job, 83% of women and 64% of men spend some time everyday doing household chores such as cooking, lawn care or housework. Almost everyone over the age of 15 spent some time in a leisure activity such as socializing, exercising, visiting with friends or watching TV. Not surprising television watching was the favorite activity that accounted for 50% of leisure time.

The average time spent watching TV is between two and three hours a day for those employed and goes us dramatically for the unemployed, up to five hours a day.

With all this television watching going on, it would be good to do a little research on television packages to get the most viewing power for your dollar. A little time spent online researching Comcast bundles and Dish TV packages among many others might be worthwhile. The options are varied and assorted depending on your viewing habits.

Leisure in America consist of many things; golf, reading, quilting, cooking, but when it comes to real relaxing, I guess the television wins the contest. Nothing is required except a soft sofa and a little quiet time to enjoy sports, the news or, heaven forbid, a soap opera.
