Hot Butter Popcorn Recipe For You

Of all the flavors of popcorn currently available on the market today, none can stand up to the popularity of hot butter popcorn. Butter is by far the most popular popcorn flavoring. It is the flavor served in sports stadiums and movie theaters around the world. It is the most common flavor of microwave popcorn and it is the most consumed flavor of popcorn. Nothing beats hot butter popcorn.

So, how can you make the perfect hot butter popcorn? It is not really that difficult. You can make some hot butter popcorn right now to enjoy with your family in a matter of minutes.

To get started you need the following ingredients:

- Popcorn

- Oil

- Butter

You will need the following supplies:

- Heavy pan with lid

To get started you will pour enough oil in your pan to cover the bottom. Then heat it up over a medium heat. Add a few kernels to the pot and put on the lid. You will be waiting to hear the kernels pop. Make sure you note the number of kernels because once you have heard them all pop you can add in the rest of the popcorn.

Once you add in all the popcorn you will want to shake the pan. Be sure to hold the lid in place. Shaking the pan will help to prevent the popcorn from settling on the bottom and getting burnt.

Once all your popcorn has popped you can melt the butter and pour it over the popcorn. Make sure to use only real butter and not margarine for that original buttery taste.

That's really all there is to making the perfect hot butter popcorn. Here are some additional tips to help ensure you get it perfect:

- Add salt with the butter since it enhances the butter taste. By adding salt you can add less butter and avoid making the popcorn too moist.

- For more even distribution of the butter, put the popped popcorn in a brown bag, add butter and shake.

- Try to not keep the lid too tight on the pot. You want moisture to escape so your popcorn is crunchy, not soggy.

- If you want to avoid the heat of stove top popcorn you can still get that homemade taste by putting kernels in a brown paper bag, folding it closed and popping it as you would microwave popcorn.

Obama and McCain VP Decision Most Important in Recent US History

While we know it will be Obama versus McCain, the key issue for me is who will be the running mates. Contrary to the comments of political pundits, in this election the American electorate will have to take a hard look at the vice presidential candidate. While frequently seen as a "sideline" issue, in this election the second slot may be critical.

Historically, only fourteen Vice Presidents went on to become President. Five were elected, four inherited the office due to the natural death of the president, and four took office due to assassination and one through resignation. If elected, John McCain will be 72 when he takes office. Questions about his health must be a concern when deciding who gets your vote. If McCain chooses a right wing politician to garner conservative support, that choice will a factor in my voting decision.

With respect to Obama, I hesitate to mention a possible issue. I remember when JFK was elected to office. His style and oratory was my inspiration and resulted in my pursuing a degree in political science and in entering a career of public service. Upon his assassination, I was devastated. We all know that LBJ took up the civil rights cause and if were not for Vietnam, he may have a better slot in our political history. I am sure for those old enough to remember, Obama brings back memories of JFK. The question is, will this memory also include the tragedy? There are still elements in this country that would oppose any minority candidate as president and one can only hope that the Secret Service stays alert. This is why his running mate is of utmost importance in my thought process. History all too often is repetitive as we fail to learn the lessons of the past.

As we know, the role of the Vice President of the United States is the first person in the line of succession becoming the new President upon the death, resignation, or removal of the president. As designated by the Constitution of the United States, the vice president also serves as the President of the Senate, and may break tie vote in that chamber. He or she may be assigned additional duties by the President. Given the current state of world affairs, the American electorate must be prepared for any eventuality.

Regardless of who wins in November, the VP must be a person that has real political experience and not chosen just to appeal to certain voting blocs or interest groups. The stakes are too high to have a VP that is not tested and tried in the arena of national and international affairs. Hopefully both Obama and McCain will understand this concern as the VP candidate in the upcoming election may be their most important political decision.

Sesame Street's 40th Birthday Party

It's hard to believe that the children's educational entertainment TV show Sesame Street has just turned 40 years old this 2009. The show began back on November 10, 1969 and has been one of the longest running TV series to date.  Many people can recall watching this show when they were younger and being amused while taught by the likes of Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, the Count, Cookie Monster and Bert & Ernie.  These memorable puppets have continued on over four decades now entertaining even more kids and helping to teach letters, numbers and words among other topics.

Over the years the Sesame Street show has been a welcome TV program in many homes, as it features friendly, amusing and intelligent puppet creatures known as muppets.  The famous characters have been brought to life via Jim Henson Productions for the hour long television series which featured the popular "Sunny Days" as its intro song.  Not only has the series featured the muppet characters, but also many great celebrity guest stars as well.  Over the years, spinoffs were created from the show, and it even brought about one of its biggest all-time stars in Elmo, the furry red monster who kids can't seem to get enough of these days.  The show has been instrumental in teaching preschoolers topics which include math, reading, spelling, and life skills topics.  It's also spawned the creation of major motion pictures, albums, books, games, toys, dolls, and every other type of merchandise imaginable.

To celebrate the 40th birthday of the show, which occurs November 10, 2009, the current first lady, Michelle Obama will make a special guest appearance on the show. Sesame Street is definitely the gold standard in children's television programming, and serves as a benchmark for other kids shows to compare themselves with. The show has now aired over 4,000 episodes and with the way the PBS series continues to entertain and educate, it's not hard to see them surpassing another 40 years of the same quality TV for kids.
