Rohan Sipy's much talked about film, Dum Maro Dum will be in theatres on 22nd April, 2011. The film will be one of the major releases of 2011. 2011 has not had any major big budget release in the first quarter of the year. Films like, Saat Khoon Maaf, Patiala House, Game, failed to leave a mark on the box office collections. Dum maro Dum is Abhishek Bachchan's second major release this year after Game and that Dum Maro Dum turns around the box office story.
Dum maro Dum is set in Goa. The film exposes the underbelly of the coastal state amidst drugs, liquor, sex and crime. Abhishek Bachchan and Rohan Sippy come together again for the second time in the forthcoming thriller Dum Maro Dum after their mega successful project, BluffMaster in 2005. Dum Maro Dum is being produced by Ramesh Sippy. Dum Maro Dum is about the lives of six Indians whose lives change as they get involved with the drug mafia in the area. The film has Abhishek Bachchan as ACP Kamath, Aditya Pancholi as the drug lord Lorsa Biscuta, Bipasha Basu as Zoe, Rana Daggubati as DJ Joki and Prateik Babbar as Lorry. Crime, revenge, rage, sex, are all woven together to create this super thriller!
Dum Maro Dum has been in the news for several reasons. The title track of the film is a raunchy, steamy number that has Bollywood nymphet, Deepika Padukone gyrate to the remix. The film also has a song by Abhishek Bachchan ‘Thayn Thayn' as its lyrics. The maker of the film, Rohan Sippy, renewed his confidence in Junior Bachchan as a singer, who had sung for his earlier film, BluffMaster. Law makers, social activists, women welfare groups, politicians and citizens of Goa have taken serious offence to the negative image of the state that has been portrayed in the film.
