New Teenage Movie Is A Must Watch

A recently released action and adventure movie made for teenage audiences is proving a must watch piece of cinema. Fans of the novel Tomorrow When The War Began have been flocking to see the movie that was adapted from this much loved Australian novel. Over two million copies of the novel have been sold just in Australia and New Zealand since the book was first published in 1993.

The novel is so well regarded that the Australian government have made it part of the high school English reading curriculum, and it is how most teenagers get their first taste of John Marsden and his engaging novels. Tomorrow When The war Began is the first book in a series of seven books in the Tomorrow series, and once that first book has been read, the rest of the series are usually devoured.

The movie is estimated to have cost $20 million dollars and was directed by Stuart Beattie, who also wrote the screenplay. The cast consists mostly of young actors who are well known for their roles in various television series like the popular "Neighbours" and "Home and Away" or who have appeared in movies that were made and shown in Australia.

The movie was filmed on location in the beautiful rural surroundings of the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountains areas of Australia. Other parts of the film were made at the Fox Studios located in Sydney.

The story is based on a group of teenagers who live in the fictional rural town of Wirawee. It's coming to the end of the school holidays and the teens decide they'd like to go away camping before heading back to school. They camp at a place in a remote part of the district called "Hell", though the pristine, unspoiled area they camp at is anything other than its namesake.

While they're camping, the town is holding its annual Commemorative Day celebrations, so the teens don't worry too much about the planes they see flying overhead; thinking that they must be part of the weekend's aeronautical displays. When they get back from their trip they are shocked to find their animals dying from dehydration, no-one at any of their homes, and the electricity and phone lines are out.

They decide to venture into town to find out what is going on and soon discover the reason for the plane fly-over. Their town has been invaded by a foreign army and their families are being held captive at the town showgrounds. The movie then continues on to show how the teenagers decide to use guerrilla tactics in order to impede the enemy's control of the town.

Moviegoers have enjoyed this adaption of the Tomorrow Book and are waiting anxiously for news of the Tomorrow DVD release date which should be in a couple of months.
